Determine if the caller is an Admin or Editor

Determine the objective

  • To create PDFs from the Admin area
  • To create PDFs from the end-user view

Possible scenarios:

  • Content is not published (articles, chapters, manuals)
  • Articles that have permissions assigned to them will not show up in a PDF. The issue is that once you start adding article-specific permissions there is a possibility of more than one PDF per-manual (User A may not have access to the same articles as User B and thus needs a different PDF). Our system is not able to cope with that scenario yet.
    • Solution: Remove Permissions, OR copy the manual and create a reference. On the copy, remove all the permissions. Then generate your PDF from the copy of the manual.

In the copied manual, use article aliases so that you only need to update 1 article instead of both. Here is an article on accomplishing this.

  • Bug: In this scenario, we would need to escalate the ticket to Trevor
